6/23/2023 0 Comments Struggle session intro songfShe goes to meet her instructor and band mates and the rest of us family find a seat at a picnic table on the patio. So we go, she starts to relax and I start to relax. And now she is supposed to come out of it all and sing in front of a masked audience in the summer heat. Plus it’s her first show after a long hiatus, and you have the whole weight of the stress we have all taken on with the pandemic and the protests and the news and explaining it all to a child, etc. Eventually we have to leave and she doesn’t want to go and is nervous and worried. So we keep at it and it leads to an argument and now we are both frustrated and she’s crying and it’s a whole big thing. So I try to help and she is frustrated because she can’t quite get it right and I’m not giving her positive enough feedback because honestly she wasn’t doing that well. She didn’t feel ready with the songs and waited til last minute to practice, and the morning of the show she asks me for help. They had rehearsed 3 songs and it was to be outdoor on an august Sunday afternoon. It was their first show coming back from covid. Last summer, my daughter was in a School of Rock band and they had a show coming up. Kinda want to share this because I feel a lot of these comments. I know you'll be the star in somebody else's sky "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I don't have many people in my life who I can comfortably say "hey this song made me cry today."Īnyway, I know you all probably know the lyrics, but these are the ones that really messed me up. I just wanted to share my experience with others. There isn't really a larger point to this post. I've been listening to it on repeat for the past hour, just letting myself get lost in the storm. The lyrics cut deep.įor the first time in my life, I understand what it means to have a song speak to you. Not sobbing or anything, but the tears just started falling. I had to step out because I started crying. It's probably because it hit so close to home but "Black" by Pearl Jam absolutely broke me today. I've always loved this song but today was the first time I actually stopped and listened to the lyrics. I haven't even cried about it in a couple weeks, and everyday it gets a little bit easier.īut today while at work, I was listening to music. I've been struggling ever since then to move on and I've been doing an okay job of it. You can dig through my post history if you want to read more about that. We've been together for 7 years, and out of the blue she told me she didn't love me anymore and that she wanted a divorce. I've been impressed with the singers vocals before, I've enjoyed guitar solos or rap verses.īut there's never been a song that moved me emotionally. Yeah, there are songs I like, either because of the music or the lyrics, or the catchy tune. I never understood how people could have an emotional reaction to a song until today.
